Rajat Gupta recognized as the Global Indian of the year

After being chosen to lead the Brahmins of the consulting world, Rajat , a 1971 Mechanical Graduate of IIT Delhi and a prominent Mech71 member, repeated the feat and was re-elected as McKinsey's managing director in 1997 and again in 2000. With him at the helm, McKinsey grew at a scorching pace. By 2002, he had expanded McKinsey's network to 84 global locations from 58, increased number of consulting staff to 7,700 from 2,900, and lifted revenues to $3.4 billion from $1.2 billion in 1993. During this time, the company entered emerging markets like China and India. Entry into other Asian countries too has been credited to him. Since stepping down as managing director, Gupta, while continuing work with McKinsey as a senior partner, has increased his involvement with India significantly. Apart from continuing to guide ISB, he has also passionately taken up the cause of supporting entrepreneurship in the country by building stronger ties between Indian and US-based entrepreneurs. ...

Missing Good News

Hi there is a lot of new goodnews about mech71 that is missing from this page i.e. that N.K. Sharma is now near the top of the biggest electronic establishment of India and the critical role being played by Girish in reshaping Indian Railways or the considerations taking place for Anil Sood as the next vice predident of the World Bank ( the first Asian one in a new globalized and fairer world as envisaged by Hilary Clinton once she becomes the President of the US of A). We shall add this good news as and when we here from these stalwarts

MECH 71 MID-TERM REUNION

MECH 71 MID-TERM REUNION February 23rd –25th, 2007, Venue: Nando House Jaipur (Nando House is the home of Dr. Ashok Malhotra named after his Late mother Nando) All Mech71 members and families (wives and children) from world over are invited to any or all the events of this reunion Program: Friday 23rd, 7.30 PM - Early Bird Dinner Saturday 24th 7.30 PM – Cocktails and Dinner Sunday 9.30 PM – Farewell Breakfast RSVP is only necessary if you want assistance with accommodation otherwise surprise members are especially welcome in the same as in their own families. Mech71 is a family of class fellows. Members however are not permitted to bring relatives, friends, ex-wives or staff etc. with them. Volunteering members hold Mech71 reunions from time to time and all members are equally welcome to such reunions.

Here is what HS Gill reports on a part of the reunion Last week I promised a report on a second New Jersey Turnpike event, that took place on Saturday July 1, starring Pimp. However, what deserves top billing is the main event of the reunion - the preceding banquet at Sikh’s. Rumors had started circulating on Saturday morning that Pimp may be attending the evening's dinner at the residence of Deepak and Melanie Sukh. We were assembling in the Hotel's foyer before walking over to the pier where the boat was docked. Quite a large crowd was gathering including many from the younger generation. Sixty’s and DK's sons, Sikh’s son and daughter, and of course Sabrina, had decided to put up with their numerous uncles and aunties.
