Rajat Gupta - A Mech71er at the Helm of International Reforms

The Times of India November 3, 2005 UNITED NATIONS: McKinsey's Rajat Gupta has been appointed special advisor on reforms to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in a post specially carved after charges of graft in the UN-administered oil for food programme for Iraq. The Kolkata-born Indian American, who serves as a senior partner with the global consultancy major, will ensure that the overall management reform programme of the UN is in line with best global practices, it was announced here on Wednesday. As a personal adviser to the secretary general, Gupta will provide focused and specialist assistance on key issues of concern. He will also participate in the deputy secretary general's post-summit coordination committee. He will get a token remuneration of a dollar a year. "The secretary general is grateful that Gupta, with his distinguished global track record and deep knowledge of management reform issues, has agreed to help him drive forward the ambitious reform agenda,"
